okfn-logo-landscape_300 The Open Knowledge Foundation (OKF) is a non-profit organisation founded in 2004 and dedicated to promoting open data and open content in all their forms – including government data, publicly funded research and public domain cultural content. The OKF is represented almost worldwide and we are happy to count with its support. They share our enthusiasm about this project and help us to establish contact with persons and groups actively working on Open Knowledge all over the world.

logo_300Ushahidi is a non-profit tech company that specializes in developing free and open source software for information collection, visualisation and interactive mapping. Their platform is there for “everyday” people to let the world know what is happening in their area during a crisis, emergency or other situation. It allows anyone to submit information through text messaging using a mobile phone, email or web form. Bringing awareness, linking those in need to those who can assist, and providing the framework for better visualisation of information graphically. We share with them the passion for Open Source and visualising georeferenced data on a map. We enjoy spreading the word about their tool during our workshop!
